Things to Remember When You Have No Motivation

We all have days when we don’t feel like our head is 100% in the game. We feel low on motivation. Maybe it’s because we feel that it’s taking us too long to reach our goals. Maybe we feel like we’re not getting much back for the amount of effort we’re putting in. Maybe you’ve just had a really bad day and you don’t feel like going to the gym. Whatever your reasons, remember the following things.


We All Have Bad Days


Everybody has bad days. Athletes, and even the people you admire all have bad days. They have days they want to eat bad food and skip the gym. Occasionally, they probably give in. The key is to still taking those steps to meet your goals most of the time, regardless. Don’t be lazy. The fact that you’re not already where you want to be should be motivation enough to keep going. Personal trainers can tell you what to do, but they can’t always change your attitude. You need to do this yourself.


You’re Doing This for a Reason


Why are you doing this? Think of all of the reasons. You want to look good. You want to be healthy. You want to improve yourself. You want to do good for your mind, body, and soul. List all of the reasons you’re doing this and you might feel more obligated to go. Sometimes you need a better reason than, ‘I want abs’.


Slow Progress is Better Than No Progress


You might be making very slow progress, but this is better than no progress. In fact, slow progress is the best kind of progress, as it has been proven to last faster than quick results. Just keep going. Imagine where you could be in 6 months!


This Isn’t a Quick Fix


Fitness and health isn’t a quick fix, it’s a lifestyle choice. Accept that you’re not going to feel motivated 100% of the time, because that’s life. Simply do things every day that you feel will help you to improve.


Real, Sustainable Results Take Time


Sustainable results that you’re going to keep forever will take time to achieve. Even if you’ve been going for months, you probably won’t be exactly where you want to be. You need to make your routine suitable to do forever, otherwise you’ll give up pretty quickly. Aim to improve with each session you do, and eventually you’ll have reached your goal. Then you’ll probably have more goals! This is good, it keep us growing as people.


Consistency is the Key to Greatness


Consistency is the key to doing great things. You can’t expect to get results if you let your attitude get the better of you too many times in a week/month. The majority of the time, you need to have a positive attitude. Try to turn all of your negatives into positives and see if you get better results.


Don’t beat yourself up. If you have a really bad day, just get back on it straight away and you’ll still make progress!
